JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Must be a United States Citizen
• Must be at least 21 years of age on or before the date of employment
• Must meet a minimum vision standard (corrected or uncorrected) of 20/50 acuity in each eye and 20/50 binocular acuity in both eyes
• Must not have a recorded felony conviction
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must have earned a high school diploma or GED
• Must be willing to reside within Clark, Scott, Jefferson or Floyd counties in the State of Indiana within six (6) months of appointment
Composed of a police force of 47 officers, those hired will be afforded the opportunity to serve and protect those living in and traveling through Clark County.
On average, our officers respond to over 47,227 calls for service each year, which includes responding to vehicle crashes and initiating criminal investigations. Those applying for the position of patrol officer should understand their duty to protect citizens from dangerous crimes in progress, which have the potential to cause injury or death to the officer. Many of the calls require a response to minor offenses such as infractions, misdemeanors, and serious crimes such as felonies.

Competitive Pay
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office values the work of police officers and aims to demonstrate that through competitive pay.
Effective January 1, 2023, the starting rate for police officers is $24.49 per hour.
Additionally, applicants with experience as a certified police officer at another federal, state, or local agency may be credited with one year for each year of experience.
The increase shown from year to year is guaranteed for each year of service. Officers are eligible for additional increases based on level of education, job performance evaluations, specialties and available certifications achieved.
